  5. Bar Breton
    254 5th Avenue
    New York, NY 10001-6406
    (212) 213-4999

This is a wonderful French restaurant in the middle of NYC. They serve naturally gluten-free galettes, which are like crepes but made of buckwheat. The toppings vary from savory to sweet and everything in between. Everything that is gluten-free is clearly marked on the menu. The staff is very knowledgeable and Chef Cyril is just wonderful. This should be a destination for any of you visiting New York City!

  7. This isn’t a restaurant per se, but I hope you’ll add it to your resource list. If you’re traveling in Canada, check out http://www.TheCeliacScene.com. I’ve only used it for Victoria, BC, but all three restaurants I tried (Bon Rouge, Tapas Bar and one other whose name escapes me but is in the Swan Hotel building) were winners. The folks were very well informed and treated it as a pleasure to provide what I needed. Three cheers! Best gluten-free experiences I’ve had and the food was both interesting and delicious. In so many other restaurants I feel apologetic or otherwise a second-class citizen. Not here!

  9. Eat n Park in Pennsylvania. They have had a gluten free menu for a few years and recently added DELICIOUS GF buns! Now you can order any of their hamburgers and even a breakfast sandwich. It’s awesome! Also, there are locations everywhere so I never usually have to worry about where to eat. I know there’s an ENP nearby!

  11. While this restaurant is on the pricier side, I’d like to recommend 2941 in Falls Church, VA. They were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions for my wedding reception (which was fantastic) and they had no problem making me a delicious gluten free meal for my wedding anniversary.

Bocatto Gelato in Arlington VA has all gluten free gelato. Just chose one NOT decorated with Cookies.

  15. The Rookery Grill at the Rookery Golf Club in Marco Island, Florida has a terrific selection gluten free items on their menu. There were so many choices I had a hard time deciding before I settled on a steak sandwich with fries. It was the best meal out I’ve had since being diagnosed. They have a GF staff member and have become educated on her account.

  19. I love McCalister’s Deli here in Grand Junction, Colorado and they work very hard at accomodating hungry appetites with their gluten-free menu. One of my favorites is their chicken salad on a bowl of lettuce greens. Their mashed potatoes are incredibly yummy. In fact, we have friends whose 2 young girls (4 & 6) have celiac’s disease and this is now their favorite place to go out to eat. I know there are McCalister’s Deli’s all over the United States, so this would be a good add to the Restaurant Guide.

  23. Bert and Ernies in Helena, Montana. All soups are now gluten free, are homemade and excellent. All salad dressings made in house are mostly if not all gluten free. Chef is skilled in gluten free dining, and menu options can be modified to accomodate.. Many choices including steaks, incredible salads, and ahi tuna! Stir fry even can be made gluten free with wheat free tamari. Owner Toby DeWolf is excellent to work with and member of staff is celiac! Excellent atmosphere. Please add to the restaurant guide as there are not many choices in Montana!!

  25. Here are some restaurants that I have either dined at or have heard others in our GF community have had good experiences at:

La Piastra (Gourmet to Go) in Cromwell, CT – very helpful and GF selections are marked. They are also caterers and work with local GF vendors to supplement their own offerings. Management is always very helpful.

Illiano’s (now w/GF pizza in several locations throughout CT) – I believe the New Haven location is also now serving DePuma’s pasta as well. I’ve only had the pizza at the Middletown location. They use the Still Riding pizza crust.

Wood ‘n Tap (several locations in Greater Hartford area) – They carry GF rolls for their sandwiches from our local Dee’s One Smart Cookie, LLC (GF/dairy free bakery in Glastonbury, CT)

Dee’s One Smart Cookie, LLC in Glastonbury, CT – great selection and staff is very helpful

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville (Mohegan Sun Casino) in Uncasville, CT- dedicated GF menu and a GF bun for burgers

Ken’s Corner (breakfast & lunch shop) in Glastonbury, CT – they carry four different kinds of bread from Dee’s One Smart Cookie, LLC and are well versed in GF needs. They made me an excellent breakfast sandwhich and their homefries are actually grilled on their own dedicated surface.

The Max Restaurant Group (several locations in Greater Hartford area) – I think you know about this one already

Georgie’s Diner in West Haven, CT – They now have a dedicated GF menu and they will put any of their sandwiches onto GF bread. Had my first turkey burger in a long while there. French fries are fried in a dedicated fryer. They also have a sister diner, but I can’t remember the name of it. They worked with the GIG to become a GFRAP restaurant.

99 Restaurants (several locatinos in CT) – I don’t have my book in front of me and I can’t remember if they were listed. They have their own dedicated GF menu.

Sweet Harmony in Middletown, CT – Everyone gets personalized attention and food is all made to order. While they don’t have a dedicated GF menu, they note on their regular menu that any of their sandwiches can be made into a salad for $1 more. The person who does the desserts also said that if someone makes a reservation a few days in advance, and requests that they have flourless chocolate cake, she should be able to accommodate that request.

2 Hopewell in Glastonbury/South Glastonbury, CT – staff was very knowledgeable about their ingredients and prep. They were very willing to work with me and make substitutions to their menu as necessary.

Burton’s in South Windsor, CT – Another excellent experience

Bellini’s in South Windsor, CT – Ditto

Sakura Garden in Glastonbury, CT – They made me the same hibachi, but they made it on their GF/soy free cook surface in the kitchen. Since it was also soy free, they did not put even wheat-free soy sauce in it, but that was fine with me. It tasted great!

Plan B (a couple of locations in CT) – This upscale burger place was very willing to work with me. They already had a burger on the menu that came without a bun (it came on top of salad instead), and when I told them that I needed to make sure it was GF, they said they would not put the seasonings (contain gluten) in and would cook it on their allergen free section of their grill.

Bertucci’s (several locations in CT) – Now has a GF menu

Bad Penny Pub in Westbrook/Old Saybrook, CT (I think) – Their staff was very knowledgeable about their GF offerings and they were supposed to be coming out with a new menu that would note GF selections.

Hope these help. Some of the establishments know me by name as I am the vendor coordinator for the Greater New Haven Celiac Group and I try to keep in touch with them as much as I can.

Also, DePuma’s Pasta has a website where they list all of the places to find their GF products, including retail locations and restaurants. I haven’t been to those restaurants, but John DePuma is very dedicated to the GF cause and I can’t imagine him stocking any restaurants with his products if they weren’t trained in the proper ways of handling to avoid cross contamination.

Any questions, feel free to e-mail me.

  27. CITY PARK GRILLthecityparkgrill.com
    1783 Saint Johns Avenue
    HIGHLAND PARK, IL 60062
    (847) 432-9111

City Park Grill has a wonderful gluten free menu(complete with gluten free hamburger buns and dessert), and the owners are very careful to advise celiac and other patrons about the risk of getting dishes like coleslaw which is not made in house. They feel if not made themselves, they cannot vouch for a food item. Their Tilapia with tomato sauce is particularly gret as is their shredded barbecue chicken sandwich.

  29. Margaritaville has an actual formal GF menu. They also have the most marvelous GF hamburger buns and GF Brownie deserts. Went there the other day and had my first quality hamburger bun in 20 years.

When the staff brought out our food order, the kitchen supervisor actually delivered the Gf food order and spent time discussing how they prevent cross contamination. WOW!

  31. The Sitdown Cafe – http://www.thesitdown53.com, Chicago, IL

They have a separate GF menu, their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient, and the food is AMAZING. It is also very reasonably priced, and the decor is clean and cute. Highly recommended. My non-GF friends were super impressed, especially with their veggie chips!

  35. Bambara Restaurant in Cambridge at the Hotel Marlowe is great! The executive chef Jay Silva is very in tune to a gluten free meal. For those of you craving french fries with those steak frites then this is the place to indulge. They are fried in a dedicated fryolator, thin and crispy with fresh herbs and aioli on the side. Yummy!!!!

  37. Pizza-Salad Restaurant in Thousand Oaks, Calif is awesome! They have amazing gluten free pizza, salads, & dessert. Their restaurant is also 100% organic and caters to other food allergies as well. Thier ‘regular’ pizza is also amazing according to my family and friends and is served on 100% whole wheat crust. We tried it once a year ago and go just about every week for pizza night. Check it out!

The Picazzo’s Pizza in the Sellwood area of Portland, OR. has the best gluten free pizza I have had in 10+ years.
And for those of us who thought fried fish and clam chowder were a thing of the past, the Corbett Fish House in the Johns Landing area of Portland, OR. are in for a treat.

  45. Tommy’s Pizza Chicken Ribs in North Ridgeville, Ohio. They have a whole GF menu. They even offer a GF buffet several times a year. You can eat in or carry out. They have take and bake pizzas. My favorite are the chicken tenders. As a newbie (diagnosed in December 2009), this is one of the things I miss the most being able to order in a restaurant.

Also, Gino’s in Toledo has a GF pizza. They have multiple locations throughout the city, and I think the GF crust is available at all their stores.

  47. Mama’s Fish House on Maui is a wonderful restaurant (although very expensive) that uses an electronic board in the kitchen that shows whether every food item they serve contains gluten (and, for those with allergies, other potentially problematic ingredients such as peanuts, corn, etc.). Our server said she enters on the board when a customer has gluten intolerance and all pertinent salads, entrees, veggies, etc. light up! The chefs have a work-around for most items. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and said she normally has several people every evening who need to avoid gluten. The food was fantastic.

  49. Woodman’s of Essex (MA) is where the fried clam was invented and to this day is an old-fashioned, eat-in-the-rough seafood place. All of their fried seafood is GF, as are their fries and sides. Onion rings are not, not are sandwiches and clam cakes. They have a GF sign right at the order counter to prompt customers to ask for GF. They use dedicated fryers and are very careful about cross-contamination. They even serve GF hard cider!

  51. Taste of Africa restaurant in picturesque Port Washington, Wisconsin is ENTIRELY gluten free. Everything on the menu is gluten-free. There is no wheat, barley, or rye used in any of the preparations. The only gluten thing is maybe one of the bottled drinks or two out of the whole selection in their self serve cooler. The African food is killer good and really something to try. We love the Grilled (curry) Chicken with Joloff Rice and Egg Sauce- order Shito Black Pepper Sauce on the side. Mainly a take out place with a few tables. Pretty port town with harbor just blocks away. You can see pictures of the food on their website http://www.tasteofafrica2go.com. Yummy!

  55. Demos’ Restaurant in Nashville, Lebanon, and Murfreesboro, TN has a fairly extensive gluten-free menu. they re-worked their main menu to make about 16 gluten-free entrees that taste just like the original when i ate there before i knew about my celiac issues. Also, Jim & Nick’s in TN and GA has a lot of gluten-free choices, including non-contaminated french fries!, although you have to speak with the manager to confirm at each location as there is no formal gluten-free menu.

  57. I know I’m not eligible to win but Viitals in Tampa Bay is a fairly new 100% gluten-free “healthy” bakery. We will be checking it out in person in May and have read only rave reviews for the products they make. Many items are also vegan. http://www.viitalsspecialtybakery.com.

5 Seasons Brewing now has local brewed gf beer (www.5seasonsbrewing.com) and unfortunately, Pizza Fusion in Atlanta recently closed.

All Fifth Group concepts now have gf menus. (www.fifthgroup.com)

Figo Pasta has gf pasta at all 8 locations. (www.figopasta.com)

I think all my other fave places are already in your current guide.

  59. Most of Chef Jose Garces restaruants in Philadelphia have gluten free menus: Amada, Chifa, Distrito and Tinto. He also has a restaurant in Chicago called Mercat a la Planxa that has a gf menu. James in south Philadelphia carries gluten free pasta and the waitstaff and chef are very knowledgeable and accomodating. Supper, also in Philadelphia, have very knowledgeable waitstaff and most of their menu was naturally gf. Amis, owned by Mark Vetri (also in philly) has a very gf aware chef – the waitstaff informed me that he took part in the gluten free cooking spree here – an apparently won. I have eaten at all of these places with confidence and have not gotten sick. But, I do have to personally commend the Garces Restaurant Group for being so awesome – the gf menus are just as “pretty” and chock full of good stuff as the regular menus and most of the so called regular stuff can be made gf per request. Thanks!

  60. 61. The Wright Place on 6th – Wausau, WI
This is a fun, quirky little establishment whose chef is incredibly knowledgeable about gluten free needs. Every time I’ve eaten there I’ve spoken to him personally, and he has created the most delicious meals for me, based on menu items but customized for my needs and preferences. They not only taste wonderful, but look and smell incredible too. This is one of the only places I’ve eaten out in over 7 years of GF living, where I feel I’m not making a compromise on the quality of my meal and it is just as good as everyone else’s. A bonus for those of us who are dairy free as well – they feature homemade sorbet, so I don’t have to skip dessert!

  65. The Dillon Dam Brewery located in Dillon, Colorado just down the road from Keystone Ski resort has a good number of GF options. They recently put together a gluten free menu that includes chicken, range-fed beef, and bison (buffalo).

The White Chocolate Grill chain of restaurants (located in Lone Tree, Colorado) touts an extensive GF menu and their fries are cooked in a dedicated fryer. They have an excellent GF dessert and offer a filet mignon cobb salad. They are also evidently in Scottsdale, AZ and Naperville, IL.

The Counter is located throughout the US and features a build your own burger concept. They use hormone and antibiotic-free natural beef and also feature chicken and turkey. Their bread is not GF, but you can build your burger as a salad and they also have sweet potato fries, which are awesome.

Turley’s at 28th and Pearl in Boulder, Colorado has GF bread for sandwiches and I’ve seen Buckwheat pancakes on their menu as well.

I believe you have Beau Jo’s Pizza listed in the guide, but they have added GF bread and now offer sandwiches as well as appetizers and of course, GF pizza.

  67. A few weekends ago, my boyfriend and I spent the weekend in San Francisco. Obviously we all know how difficult it is to eat out when you are GF but we found some great options. Our favorite by far was Asa Sushi (2365 Chestnut Street – A block or so down from Lombard Street) (415) 345-8263. You can view their menu here: http://www.allmenus.com/ca/san-francisco/61847-asa-sushi/menu/

It was a small place, with plenty of seating, great atmosphere. Cute and comfy. We thought the menu was really reasonably priced, and I had a few more options here than several other sushi restaurants. The best part was – for some reason I asked if they had gluten free soy sauce, which every other place I have asked…they don’t so I had given up on the question. But to my surprise they did!! They keep it behind the sushi bar. The Chef and waitress were very helpful and attentive. We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a GF option in San Francisco. So if you are there…check it out.

They don’t have a specific GF menu, however just ask and they are extremely helpful and very accommodating

  69. Fat Mike’s Pizza in Wilton, CA has gluten free pizza crust. You can order any of their yummy pizzas and they’ll prepare it on the gf crust. A small “personal sized” pizza is $8. Nice to be able to go out for pizza as a family again!

  75. Panzano’s in Denver!! Yes it’s an Italian restaurant!! — It is attached to the Hotel Monaco downtown and they have an amazing GF menu — their chef is Celiac, so they TOTALLY get it. I’m not celiac but very gluten intolerant as well as sugar and dairy intolerant, so I was thrilled to discover them. I attended a function at the hotel that Panzano’s catered, so I called to see what my options were and surprise, surprise they have it covered. check it out! http://www.panzano-denver.com

  77. Pirates Table in Rapid City, SD. We have been eating safely there for five years. Three of the four of us eat gluten free and two have to be dairy free too. They are very happy to accomodate these and other dietary restrcitons. Just give them a call ahead of time or walk-in.

  79. KOZY KITCHEN – Dallas, Texas. The food is fabulous, even for non GF diners. My favorite? I can’t choose my favorite dinner entree because they have specials all the time in addition to their regular menu but dessert? The chocolate cake with white icing is unbelievable. My husband loves the OMG chocolate and peanut butter cake. Breakfast is a winner with 8 to 10 fresh organic veges for omelets.

I have 2 suggestions: Nizza on the corner of 45th st and 9th Ave in New York which has its own gluten free menu, including pasta and gluten free bread sticks, and The Sparrow bar in Astoria which carries 2 gluten free beers, Bards and Green’s. Its great to be able to order a beer at my local bar!

  83. Doc Ford’s on Sanibel in Florida was very responsive to a gluten-free call. The manager said they were considering a GF menu for the future and were getting more requests all the time. I was met at the door, selections were gone over with me, and the manager checked back twice during my meal.

  85. I must recommend two standout places that I frequent:
Cafe Juanita in Kirkland, WA (http://cafejuanita.com/) is a lovely Northern Italian restaurant tucked away in a residential area — and I’ve had some of my BEST meals there. It doesn’t have a separate GF menu, but chef Holly Smith (one time iron chef contestant on Food Network), who was the James Beard Award winner for 2008 Best Chef Northwest, thoroughly understands my needs (GF, dairy-free & egg-free) and always came through triumphantly! You just need to tell her/her staff your dietary restrictions and she’ll accommodate, even on special days when they have a pre-fixed course menu (think New Year’s Eve — I’ve had two New Year’s Eve dinners in a row at Cafe Juanita; each time when I showed up they had a special menu printed for me. I felt so special!). She proves that GF eating can be as decadent and pleasurable as non-GF eating. I’ll go there as long as Holly’s cooking, for all our special occasions. For someone who’s made her restaurant such a success, she is so incredibly laid-back and helpful. So is the rest of her staff.
Chaco Canyon Cafe is a more casual option in Seattle, WA (http://www.chacocanyoncafe.com/). Their specialty is in raw & vegan food as well as fabulous organic juices, but they serve up cooked food as well for those of us who crave warm food. I love the fact they have this chewy one bite GF brownies (50c) for when I want a little something with my coffee or tea; I also love it when they do special course menu dinners from time to time, since at least one option would usually be gluten-free (and vegan, so I never have to worry about my other allergies — dairy & eggs). I loved their Valentine feast they once had, which featured a lovely poached pear coated with dark chocolate. Mmmm. They often have to-go Thanksgiving feast as well with a GF option. I love their rich tarts with nutty crust! Who knew vegan, GF desserts could taste so rich & sinful :-)

  117. The Oar House in Dahlonega, GA has a new chef who also suffers from celiac disease. She has created a special gluten-free section of the menu and she should be knowledgeable about it. I’m waiting for a beautiful, warm spring day to go there with a fellow celiac sufferer and eat outside by the beautiful mountain stream on their property. Their food in the past has always been top-notch, and I’m eager to try the new GF menu.

  125. Patricia’s II – Italian restaurant in Throggs Neck area of the Bronx, NY just started serving gluten free pizza & pasta. Haven’t checked it out yet, but if it’s like I remember their regular fare from my pre-gluten-free days, it should be yummy. On a typical evening there’s a line out the door waiting for tables at this place.

  131. Maria’s Mexican in Webster, NY (suburb of Rochester) is delicious and has many gluten-free options! I love their tacos, enchiladas, and chili. They will accommodate you–lobster quesadillas come in flour tortillas, but they will substitute corn (just as yummy) to make it gluten free. I go here just about once a week, and have never been glutenized. Please add to your guide! :)

Oxford, Ohio is the home of Miami University. Kona Bistro is a restaurant in the uptown area. They recently introduced a gluten free menu listing all their regular menu items that are safe, which is said to be at least 25 items. They have gluten free pasta and bread. We took our celiac children. They were able to adjust the menu items to fit the tastes of the kids. My picky one loves the slice of gluten free bread. The staff seemed very knowledgeable both when I called ahead and when working with the waiter. When he was not sure, he asked the chef and the chef personally prepared the items. The waiter also offered to have the chef come to our table and suggest modified items for the kids, but did not end up needing that help.

  149. The White Chocolate Grill, a relatively new restaurant in Lone Tree, CO has a gluten-free menu and excellent food. They even have a heavenly desert for two: Molten Chocolate Soufflé Cake (and I don’t really care for chocolate). There are two other locations: Naperville, IL and Scottsdale, AZ.

  153. There are two restaurants in Baltimore MD that are very friendly to the GF community.

The first is Pizzazz. This restaurant has a very knowledgeable staff, although I’ve never been wowed by them personally, and have a significant gluten free menu. The restaurant has always been a little dead when I’ve gone but the food is nice gluten free Italian.

The second is dogwood gourmet. The food there is really good! Again their staff is very knowledgeable about gluten. Their menu does not designate which dishes are gluten free but the staff knows which are and will be happy to make suggestions. Also they can often arrange for dishes that would contain gluten to be tailored to be gluten free. The food is very good, big servings and they are always changing their menu.

  159. Nizza is a fantastic place in Hell’s Kitchen in NYC. They’ve got excellent gluten free pastas and has excellent flatbread called socca which is naturally GF as it is made with garbanzo bean flour. I also really liked Risotteria in NYC with excellent GF breadsticks, pizza, and (of course) risotto. They also have yummy GF desserts.

In the Midwest, I’m constantly surprised by Uptown Kitchen in Granger, IN. They’ve brought GF pizza and cake to my town and just added GF bread to their line up so I can enjoy their fantastic sandwiches in a gluten free form.

  163. I retract my previous listing about Patricia’s II restaurant in the Bronx. Went there for dinner last weekend and it turned out all they had was gluten free pizza – no pasta, no separate menu. The place is a mad-house, noisy and very busy. It seemed so chaotic that I’m not sure I’d trust them not to cross-contaminate gluten free pasta even if they did have it.

  165. Danny Boy’s Italian Eatery in Sandusky, OH (already in the guide) no longer offers GF pizza and pasta. Apparently it was just a limited-time thing.

Boston’s Pizza in Columbus, OH offers a very good GF crust, and several of their pizza toppings are also GF (their menu notes which ones are GF).

Martini, a modern italian restaurant in Columbus, has a decent GF menu with several delicious options.

Pattycake Bakery in Columbus is an awesome vegan bakery that always has a couple of GF items available. Their cupcakes (they usually have one GF flavor available at a time) are very good, and their chocolate cake (which you do have to pre-order well in advance) is to die for!!

The best part is that your food is always within your sight! Also GodFather’s Pizza now offers GF pizza at some stores. If that store delivers, you can now have a GF pizza delivered!

  169. Yao Fuzi, in Plano Texas. It’s an Asian restaurant with some Thai, Chinese and sushi items. The owner was wonderful when I presented my Triump Dining Card and they do have GF soy sauce. He and the wait staff are good about recommending “safe” choices for me and even have prepared dishes for me. I have never been “glutoned” there and we go there often.

  173. Hi—having been gluten intolerant (DH ) for 11 years, I struggled, in the beginning to find restaurants and shopping sites where I can safely make purchases. Originally most breads tasted like flavored plaster board! I have learned to make much of my own things but also like the challenge of creating newer (GF) recipes from older standards. I live in Buffalo, NY and am starting to find many local restaurants realizing that (GF) people can and do spend greenback$. I might suggest various places in Western New York for those living here or traveling thru the area. The Buffalo area is not all about snow. Snow is not bad and all the celebratory 4 seasons can be wonderful. Better dining spots in the Buffalo area: La Tee Da (Buffalo), Mulberry’s, Curly’s (both in Lackawanna), Mangia (Orchard Park). Also in this area one can buy a wonderful (GF) pizza from Bocce Club. There are many other places that can be visited, after just a simple phone call to test their familiarty with (GF) dining. Enjoy–JIM

  175. In Paramus, New Jersey, try Paparazzi in the Garden State plaza. They are so accomodating, that besides the gluten free pasta with a selection of sauces, they will make any dish gluten free. They also make delicious risotto in a various number of ways–just ask.

  181. On Interstate 5 in Oregon, 26 miles south of the capitol city of Salem is Albany. Many area grocers have stocked gluten free grocery items, but finding a restuarant with a gluten free menu is much harder. “Spice & Ice in North Albany is Asian Fusion with many popular items on the Gluten Free menu. Pad Thai is really good as is the Sweet & Sour Or Teriyaki Chicken – or – Pork. Two thumbs up for Spice & Ice, plus they have “made on site” Gellato for desert, most of them are also gluten free.

  183. Hi, I would like to recommend a great restuarant. It is a full menu salads, bread basket, sandwiches, burgers, fish. Includes a full bar, nice location, lots of seating, nice decor, re-done not to long ago. The name is “Doolittles”. It is in Golden Valley, MN near Hwy 55 and Winnetka ave. Very knowledgeable staff. Their chef came to our table to help us with our choices. They have an open fire pit with roasted chickens on spits. Real mashed potatoes. Peeled fresh everyday. Great prices for the amount of food. Highly recommended. The best part is all the staff work together. You don’t have to wait for your server to refill your sodas or bread. I like that. Mary Kate

  185. I would highly recommend Manna Restaurant, 8409 Ventnor Avenue,in Margate, NJ 08402 (609) 822-7722.

John and Victoria Merlino have gone out of their way to make sure that everything I have been served is gluten free and that I can participate in special events at the restaurant. The food is beautifully prepared and is delicious. We have eaten there several times and I have never had a reaction to any of their food.

  195. We had a great experience at Yia Yia’s in Wichita, Kansas. (Other locations are listed on the website.) Yia Yia’s doesn’t have a gluten-free menu, but the chef will make any item on the menu gluten free. We had a wonderful artichoke pizzetta on a gluten-free crust as an appetizer. The waiter made sure to point out that the potatoes served with my roasted chicken entree had been sauteed in a separate pan. The gluten-free creme brulee trio was also divine. I highly recommend this place!

the beef burger will be on a bun, and they will just remove it from the bun. Usually they do well, though; and they have been very willing to start with a fresh burger when told that the one removed from the bun won’t do. Their fries and milkshakes are gluten-free, too, as well as the honey mustard and other condiments.

  206. We find Fuddrucker’s hamburgers gluten-free, as long as it is requested to have no bun (and it is good to watch the order when delivered, as occasionally
the beef burger will be on a bun, and they will just remove it from the bun. 207. The British Beer Company, a chain of british pubs in Mass, has a fairly extnsive GF menu to include items such as wraps, burgers and pizzas. They also have 2 varieties of GF beer available. I’ve never had an issue with cross contamination, and all the staff seem to be well versed in how to deal with customers having food sensitivities/allergies. Every time we eat here, I am more and more impressed. If you are ever in MA, I suggest you check them out!

  209. Friedman’s Lunch in the Chelsea Market in NYC will make any sandwich on their menu GF for a small upcharge. They also mark all the lunch entrees on their menu that can be made GF. I had an outstanding Southwestern Turkey Burger on an awesome GF bun! I noted a flourless brownie on the menu ,too. So nice for a smalltown girl like me to be able to eat safely and happily in the big city.

  211. The Irish Chanel Restaurant in Crofton, MD 21114 now has a gluten-free menu. The items are made by Maureen Jenkins, a long-time celiac, who uses the cleaned kitchens after hours to cook with seperate pots & utensils. The food is served on an allergy plate, but still in plastic take-out containers to avoid cross-contamination. You may choose to plate it yourself or eat from the container. They offer many gluten-free/cassein-free dishes such as bread with crab dip, lasasgna, chicken nuggets, crab cakes, hamburgers (w/bun) and Shepard’s Pie. Recently they have teamed up with Janice Shea at Tenzo Artison to add GF and GF/CF desserts to the menu! The food is delicious and the service there is outstanding! Maureen is currently planning on adding Fish and Chips and steak subs! It’s worth the trip, honest!

  213. I just ate at a great restaurant last night in Ogunquit, ME. Julie’s Rostorante and Proviso ( http://www.juliesristorante.com ). The had an extensive GF menu of Italian food and desserts. They also make GF food baskets and ship them for you. We were extremely pleased.

Additionally, there is a small New England chain called Wild Willy’s Burgers that has a gluten free menu ( http://www.wildwillysburgers.com). Hamburgers, chicken sandwiches on a gluten free bun. Dedicated fryer for fries, onion rings and chicken tenders (all gluten free of course). The GF menu is not on their website, but call the Worcester, MA location and they will tell you all about it.

  215. I would like to suggest Biaggi’s in Arbor Lakes, Maple Grove, Minnesota. They actually have a full menu just for Celiacs!!

They’ve been at the front of the gluten free-Celiac game for quite some time now. I couldn’t believe it when they handed me a full on both sides, gluten free menu items.

I felt like a kid, it was so exciting to have them know what Celiac disease is, then to go on to develop a menu just for us!

  229. Juliano’s, just off Exit 4 in Derry, NH is easy to access on your way north to the mountains and lakes or heading back to Boston. They have the BEST gluten free pizza and a homemade sauce to die for that is served over gluten free pasta. They even have homemade gluten-free desserts!!! They are very careful about cross-contamination which makes it so easy to indulge without worrying. Its a very small, very friendly place owned by a mother and daughter. Plus the whole family can go there since they have both a regular menu and a very extensive gluten free menu. Its not to be overlooked.
