Review and Give-away: Yoplait Greek Yogurt
Yogurt is not something I usually get excited about. In fact, I rarely eat it unless it’s frozen and chocolate flavored. To save on calories and fat, I sometimes use plain yogurt to make tuna salad, but that’s about the extent of my relationship with non dessert yogurt. Recently, that changed when General Mills announced that the new Yoplait Greek yogurt was labeled gluten-free. In fact, over 100 Yoplait yogurts are now labeled gluten-free.
The fat free Yoplait Greek yogurt is much thicker than I remember regular yogurt being, which is the draw of Greek style yogurt. I used the new plain yogurt to make delicious tuna salad. I’m not a mayo lover and didn’t miss having mayo in the tuna salad. I used the yogurt to replace half the mayo in potato salad and that was tasty as well. People who really love mayo might not like using yogurt in its place, but I love having the option to save fat and calories without giving up the creamy taste the mayo offers. The Greek yogurt worked perfectly to that end!
I bought the new Yoplait yogurt before I found out it was part of a MyBlogSpark promotion. Therefore, I received my free yogurt coupons – and the rest of the spark promotional items – after I already knew how much I liked the product. When the Yoplait MyBlogSpark box arrived, the items inside were intriguing to say the least. There was a pair of spa slippers, a small terry spa towel, several spa tools and a fabulous plush terrycloth Velcro wrap. Oh, and there were two coupons for free Yoplait Greek yogurt, of course. If you want to print a discount coupon for the product, please click here.
The spark theme is about getting in touch with your inner (Greek) goddess. Pamper yourself and treat yourself to some Greek yogurt from Yoplait. And there is a tie in for the new movie “Clash of the Titans”. Too bad they didn’t include passes to the movie in the spark. Even so, this is by far the nicest spark I’ve participated in. Because the coupons were in the very bottom of the box and there was no paperwork in it, I thought the UPS guy left the box at the wrong address. Finally, I saw the two coupons for Yoplait yogurt and everything clicked. There are 12 grams of protein in the yogurt – twice that found in leading yogurts. Yoplait Greek is available in four flavors – Strawberry, Blueberry, Honey Vanilla and Plain.
General Mills owns Yoplait, Progresso, Betty Crocker, Larabar and many other product lines. About every two months, the Live Gluten Freely website adds some new gluten-free products. Did you know that most of the Betty Crocker canned frostings are now labeled gluten-free? Here is the updated list of gluten-free labeled products from General Mills. Click on the logo of the line shown on the left side of the page to see the full line up from that brand. I’m hoping they’ll add some Progresso soup cups to the line up soon.
OK – back to the yogurt. If you like Greek yogurt, you might want to give the new Greek versions from Yoplait a try. If you want to try it for free, please tell us (in a comment below) how you get in touch with your inner gluten-free goddess. Deadline to enter is May 14th and the winners’ address must be in the contiguous U.S.
UPDATE: Congrats to LuAnn who won the Yoplait Greek Yogurt give-away!
*Thanks to Yoplait and MyBlogSpark for my spa kit and coupons and for sponsoring this give-away for our readers!

I have never had Greek Yogurt but would love to give it a try.

I love the other greek yogurt pronounced faya… but before I discovered it, I ate yoplait every morning. This new stuff would be perfect for me! (If it’s any good, haha)

The plain version makes perfect tuna salad! Though it doesn’t taste like mayo, the tuna flavor hides that fact so you can make a creamy delicious salad that’s very low fat.

After a long day of teaching and caring for infants and toddlers, I love to sit and watch nature with yoplaits greek yogurt. I would encourage everyone to try it. It is even better when you buy it with a coupon. Enjoy!

I get in touch with my inner gluten free goddess by creating new recipes on a daily basis & surprising my incredible husband with a meal fit for a gluten free King! We are both Celiac & are always looking for great gluten free items. I have never tried greek yogurt but I am sure it would be an awesome ingredient for a new recipe or just by itself!

I’ve tried it– it’s great! I like how Greek yogurt is thicker and creamier than regular yogurt, and the added protein is a plus. The plain flavor is a great substitute for sour cream, and I’ve recently tested it as a sour cream replacement in a gluten-free cake recipe.

I was so looking forward to trying this product. When I did, I was disappointed. I had been eating Chobani greek yogurt as it is usually on sale at my local grocery store for $1 a container. If you compare the labels on the Yoplait and Chobani greek yogurts you will notice that while Chobani’s vanilla flavor has cultured pasteurized nonfat milk, sugar, natural vanilla flavor, and five live active cultures, the Yoplait version also contains a number of additives that give it a “gelatin like” consistency. It is not as creamy, smooth, or tasty.

I buy only Yoplait yogurt. My daughter & I are both Celiac and would love to try this new yogurt. I have found a Gluten Free Falafel and Greek yogurt makes the best dressing for this meal.

I’d love to try the Yoplait Greek Yogurt. We’re always trying new yogurts to increase our probiotics and fantastic tasting yogurt is an easy way to do this.

I was suprised to find out that many yogurts actually do have gluten…it just seems so unnecessary. Glad to see Yoplait step up to the plate on this one…I would love to try it.

I eat greek yogurt DAILY with my homemade gluten free granola. I think Yoplait’s is great! Some varieties can be gritty but I find Yoplait to be smooth and have just the right thickness. I am a huge fan of the vanilla flavor!
Thank, Yoplait!

I get in touch with my inner gluten-free goddess by taking a long, steamy bubble bath while reading a fat trashy paperback. Would love to try the Yoplait Greek Yogurt.

I think it’s great that Yoplait is offering greek style yogurt and that many of their products are gluten free. I just wish they would get rid of the high-fructose corn syrup. It’s loaded with genetically modified corn and gmo’s are linked to the dramatic increase in autoimmune diseases like celiac and obesity! Do a little research if you don’t know the story. I just found out recently and eliminated any high-fructose c.s. sweetened foods from my house and I’m trying to only purchase non-gmo products as well. I don’t want a free trial of this yogurt-I’ll stick with the natural versions. It’s too bad because we have always enjoyed their products but if yogurt isn’t good for you then what’s the point???

My gluten free goddess is touched when there are foods available to me that taste “the same as they use to”, they are readily available to me at a regular grocery store, and cost the same as they do for everyone else. That makes my goddess smile. I would love to try this yogert.

My favorite way to get in touch with my gluten-free goddess is to educate others on the positive aspects of living a gluten-free life. I truly feel blessed by my Celiac diagnosis because it has opened my eyes (and appetite) to eating fresh, healthy, foods that I would have never thought twice about before. I am the healthiest now that I have ever been thanks to my gluten-free lifestyle. I am proud to be a gluten-free goddess!

I get in touch with my gluten free self by reading everything I can to stay healthy and gluten free, and then acting on what I have read. We celiacs need to constantly be aware of changing foods and the newly-created gluten free foods we can eat.

My gluten-free goddess is only 5 years old. Not only gluten-free but also Type I diabetic. She is my hero!! Together we are finding many ways to stay gluten-free – now if we could just get the rest of the country to recognize this. Gluten-free Greek yogurt is even on MY diet – not needing the gluten-free – but loving the yogurt. Thank you people!

I travel a lot, and I depend on a good yogurt to help with digestion and to give me a breakfast when others are eating cereal and pastry. I would love to find a gluten-free, easily available yogurt for this!

I found many good desserts in the GF isle of Kroger and Meijer, we live in Indy, IN. At first I was very sad that there were so many things I would have to give up, but the more I look the more I find what I can have instead of thinking what I can’t. I hate to hear people say “Oh you poor thing” because this has opened up all kinds of foods I never would have tried if I was not GF. Instead of focusing on the can’t, don’t and better not I have chosen to look for the yes’s in life

When I want to get in touch with my inner Gluten Free Goddess, I close my eyes and try to relax. Then I imagine my Greek ancestors going about their daily work, in times past. I see them as strong, healthy and dedicated people. Most of the things they ate were Gluten Free. When I eat Gluten Free, which is always, I am going back to my family roots.

I love Greek Yogurt and every morning I get in touch with my inner Gluten Free Goddess by starting with this wonderful breakfast: 1/2 cup of plain, fat free Greek Yogurt mixed with a half cup low fat or fat free cottage cheese, 1 tbsp sliced almonds, 1 tbsp Gluten Free oats (or other cereal – buckwheat is great too!), a splash of vanilla and 1/2 cup berries. Wonderful breakfast full of nutritional value! (make the night before and the oats soften).

I would love to try this new Greek yogurt. I only eat Greek yogurt, as I truly feel it is healthier than regular yogurt. I currently buy two other brand of Greek yogurt, but am always looking for something new. I like plain because then I can make it any flavor I want, whether it is adding fresh strawberries, or blueberries,or gluten free granola, layering them or mixing them together. Gotta go,as I am making myself hungry thinking about it – gonna make me a Greek yogurt, GF granola, strawberry parfait right now! Yummy, yummy, good for my tummy! Food fit for my inner Greek GF goddess, since I am married to a Greek!

I’ve never tried Greek style yogurt, but I’m definitely a yogurt fan. So I’m glad to know there is a new GF version. I’ll have to try it.
