Gorton’s Seafood Announces GF Grilled Fish and a Giveaway

Well hey there, GF sailor....

Add another company to the growing list of those whose products are now labeled gluten-free:

Gorton’s Seafood announced last week that their grilled fish is gluten-free.

According to the press release, “Procedures have been implemented at the production location to avoid the risk of cross-contamination, and there is ongoing monitoring and testing to ensure that Gorton’s Grilled Fish is gluten free.”

Gorton’s is giving away 100 subscriptions to Living Without Magazine to celebrate the news; to enter for a chance to win, visit their website (you’ll see a red oval that says “Click to Win…”).

The range of products includes Grilled Tilapia, Grilled Salmon, Grilled Haddock and also several Grilled Filets made from Pollock and with various flavorings like Lemon Pepper and Italian Herb.

It’s important to note that since this is a new change, your local store may still be carrying older products that are not labeled gluten-free — be sure to check the box carefully before purchase.

Will you be trying Gorton’s Seafood? Did you eat it prior to going GF?

  1. Unless their procedures include opening a new, 100% dedicated gluten free facility, I wouldn’t risk it. I’m still trying to recover from being glutened by a “gluten free” product back in July. It was made on shared lines — information they didn’t share on their website or packaging because it would be “over labelling”.

  2. Kudos to Gorton’s! At least they are trying to make things a bit easier for the GF people. If you read their website, they are pretty sure they can avoid cross contamination, and keep testing to insure GF status. Some people are always so negative and never happy when anyone tries to make a product they can eat. I loved fish in a box before going GF, one of the things I missed the most. I hope they can expand their line of GF foods to include some battered as well. The only thing I have ever intentionally cheated on was Gorton’s battered fish, with mostly rice flour (wheat was lower down the ingredients) because it was one of the few things my whole family eats and enjoys. Keep up the good work Gorton’s!

  3. The convenience of reaching into the freezer and finding Gorton’s gluten-free grilled fish loaded with healthy Omega-3’s can guarantee we will be eating more fish during the week. And who doesn’t like that? Thank you for such an awesome giveaway.
