Wegmans’ Pizza Shop Tries Out Celiac-Friendly Crust

Wegmans is a grocery store that has long offered a generous variety of gluten-free options. From their own brownie and cake mixes, to labeled prepared food items, all the way down their Gluten-Free aisle, it is a Celiacs paradise, filled with gluten-free products you never even knew you were missing.

Continuing their crusade towards gluten-free substitutes for all, Wegmans has found their way into the heart of all gluten-free pizza lovers with their new Pizza Shop. The pilot program that has been set in 42 stores across 6 states will bake gluten-free pizza (Pepperoni, Mushroom Florentine, or Margherita) for customers in their Market Café. The pizzas are pre-packaged in a dedicated gluten-free facility, arriving at Wegmans frozen, in order to cut out cross-contamination risk.

Currently the pilot program is taking place in many east coast stores, including Wegmans’ in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. The pizzas are available for purchase baked at the Market Café, or can be purchased for home-use in the gluten-free freezer aisle.

What do you think? Would you buy GF pizza at Wegmans?

  1. Yeah, I would give them a try. I’d have to see how they are baking them to decide whether to have them bake it or take home to bake.

  2. I’m glad to read that Wegman;\’s has added the gluten-free pasta to their stock of GF foods. It is our best source of gluten-free foods in this part of Virginia. I go there frequently.
