Casey’s Cupcakes | Triumph Dining Review

Gluten-Free-Red-Velvet2We’ve just returned from a visit with family in Southern California. While there it became very clear that we are incapable of walking past a cupcake shop without going inside.

Casey’s Cupcakes is in the Newport Beach Fashion Island shopping center. We were so happy to see that they had a beautiful and delicious gluten-free red velvet cupcake.

Casey’s is just a happy place. It’s a destination inspired by a classic Parisian café with a glamorous Hollywood twist and incorporates bright splashes of pink with classy black accents and whimsical accessories.

Founder Casey Reinhardt started her cupcakerie in 2009 when she was just a junior at Pepperdine University. Her cupcakes became nationally known in 2011 when Casey won the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. Today there are five stores and more are scheduled to open. We give it a resounding two thumbs up.

The company supports the Children’s Alliance for the Success and Education for Youth in need, which was established by Casey to serve help children build their self-esteem by focusing on their academics and extracurricular activities.

  1. Can you please comment on whether the gluten free cupcake can be considered safe for those with celiac disease? Is the gluten free cupcake made in the same facility as the regular cupcakes? What precautions are taken to prevent cross contact with gluten? Thank you!

  2. Rachel,

Since the majority of the cupcakes available at Casey’s are gluten-containing, I would think cross contamination would be a serious issue. As a celiac, I would not feel safe eating here. Luckily there are a bunch of completely gluten-free bakeries out there! Hopefully you have one not too far away from you? :)
