Gluten Free at JFK | Triumph Dining

800px-Via_JFK_AirportNext up for our gluten-free airport series is one of the busiest airports in the US: JFK in the New York City Metro area.

French Meadow Bakery Café (Terminal 2) – French Meadow Bakery is a Minneapolis-based bakery and restaurant, known best for their vegan and gluten-free foods. In Terminal 2 they have a coffee-shop-style quick service station that serves up organic, healthy, quick meals for great prices, even if they don’t have a large selection. The bakery has gluten-free Italian Rolls, Tortillas, Sandwich Bread, Cinnamon Raisin Bread, Pizza Crust and Multi-grain Bread that they use to make to-go sandwiches and wraps. They often have gluten-free brownies, cupcakes or cookies available as well. There’s a substantial breakfast menu for early morning flyers. According to their website, “all of our gluten-free products are certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), a program of the Gluten Intolerance Group.” Click to continue reading »

I learned that butter cream frosting at a bakery that my family likes is gluten free but only for certain flavors. Click to continue reading »

Of course celiacs safely drinking vodka, in and of itself, is controversial. Many experts, including the National Institutes for Health, claim that the distilling process that creates vodka from gluten-containing grains renders it gluten-free. That’s up to you to decide for yourself. Click to continue reading »
