Although it’s May and many of our New Year’s resolutions are pretty much non-existent by now, we can still get back on track when it comes to eating healthy. Here’s a new snack food to help us do so. Van’s Natural Foods, one of the biggest healthy, frozen, breakfast foods companies, launched a new snack bar collection earlier this year with gluten-free multigrain snack chips and PB&J sandwich bars.
The Multigrain Chips come in Nacho, Nacho, Man! and Might Good BBQ flavors. They are made with brown rice, oats, millet, quinoa and amaranth. Each serving comes in at only 130 calories and 18g of whole grains. These very flavorful chips are just what you would want in a snack- crispy, crunchy, not greasy, and no “bad”ingredients! While the BBQ is a bit more authentic in flavor, both bags are great to have around when you’re craving something crunchy and delicious. We can’t wait to see what other flavors they come out with.
The PB&J Sandwich Bars combine peanut butter and a fruit spread (strawberry or blueberry) between two whole grain gluten-free bars. They lack artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. Unlike most whole grain bars, these are soft and chewy, just like you would expect a PB&J sandwich to be! Plus, these are definitely not only for kids as the filling is not overly sweet. These make a great snack and are perfect lunchbox and purse sized so your whole family can take them on the go. At only 160 calories per bar, you don’t have to feel bad about snacking.
Also new to the snack line are Crispy Baked Crackers made with whole grains and gluten-free oats. There are three flavors; Multigrain, Lots of Everything! and Say Cheese!. These crackers are great for dipping in hummus or tzatziki dip, and will definitely be on the snack table for parties from now on. Bonus: if you’re doing Weight Watchers, 30 crackers is only 4 points. They make a great crumbly topping to a casserole or other baked dish. If you have kids, or are often on the go, check out the Snack Packs, which contain 5 small packs in each box. These light, crispy crackers will fill you up and not out.
