In early May, Starbucks introduced its Valencia Orange Cake to great fanfare in the gluten-free community. Despite what appears to be strong support from the gluten-free community and continued demand for the product (our local Starbucks has told us that the product sells quickly), they’ve pulled the plug on this gluten-free treat.
It’s so hard to find good, safe gluten-free options. Having a gluten-free treat at Starbucks was an enormous win for the community. It’s sad to see it disappear such a short time later, without any real explanation.
We’ve put this petition together to convince Starbucks to bring the Valencia Orange Cake back. We’re going to collect 5,000 signatures and present the petition to Starbucks.

I was so excited to finally see a gluten free cake at Starbucks. Please keep it on the menu otherwise wise I will have to go to our other coffee shop for coffee and pastries
I do not even drink coffe but I went there to get your gf pastry..now I no longer go please bring it back

It’s too bad that I didn’t even find one. By the time I got back to the Bay Area in late June no one had it. They were throwing them out because no one bought them. I would certiainly by one if I could find one. I heard somewhere they were
going to just not label them as GF.
With so much labeling and offering of GF food for us it is remarkable that Starbucks is taking the road they are…I guess that leaves us not going to Starbucks and the stores, centers or malls they are in…I know this is strange, but GF people are people too and there are enough of us to make the difference in this downturn economy, what if we discontinued Starbucks as they have discontinued GF? Just remember, those who cater to us we are loyal to…Unless we hear differently, Bye Starbucks, it was very good while it lasted….
Never got a chance to try it, would love to if it comes back.

My daughter loved the gluten free cake. Now I can’t take her to Starbucks which means I can’t go when she is with me. Please bring it back!!
It takes time for word to get out to the GF community about new GF products, such as your orange cake.
It seems as if enough time has passed that most of us know about it now, the only problem is , now it’s gone.
You either need to improve your marketing, or be more patient, as we spead the word ourselves.
The GF community are the best customers you will ever find, they are grateful for any attempts at carrying GF products, and willing to spend more for a slice of cake than the average Joe, even in a down economy.
Please don’t discontinue the GF muffin…the only reason that I come to SB.
Tell us how many you would have to sell to keep it on the shelves?!!
I had it quite a few times and liked it… it went well with the ice coffee,
however, i will be happy to try something else… just make it GF

This is such a shame as the cake was better than most GF things I have purchased off the shelves. I modify family recipes with GF flour and the taste of those are great. I visited many Starbucks where the employess were clueless about the cakes. Even heard them telling customers they were made without REAL flour so they had to taste awful and suggested they not be bought??? Come on people – they were really OK. And, since they kept them frozen several talked about how they forgot to take them out in the morning to thaw on the top of their brew machines?? Again – come on. Perhaps a different approach with the handling and amt ordered would help. Something else – chocolate perhaps would also be appreciated BUT PLEASE DO NOT FORGET US.
With the number of celiacs/ wheat intolerant people growing all the time, it just makes good sense for vendors to be mindful of what people want. I know many folks who choose Gluten Free, even tho they are not Celiac, just because they feel better when they make the healthier choices. We also tend to avoid products with HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). Thank you.
Imagine my dismay when I went for my free pastry on July 21 (special Facebook offer) and was told at my local Starbucks that they had discontinued the GF cake. I was soooooo disappointed! I go there several times a week and finally was excited that I had something I could eat. The orange cake was good—way too sweet, though—-but there are so many other options they could offer to the many celiacs who patronize their stores. Very disappointing!
My celiac wife loved these and now they are gone. Very unfair that she can’t find anything SAFE to eat at Starbucks. We travel frequently and many other countries are so accommodating to the gluten intolerant. Bad marketing decision due to poor training I think. Better strategy would solve the problem and create a market that is still untapped.
It was sooooooo amazing to have such a great food option at Starbucks. And then, so quickly, it was gone.
Please bring that great orange cake back.
I usually don’t go to Starbucks, but because they were trying to accommodate my needs with a gluten free option I decided to support them. I enjoyed the orange cake and ordered it on several occasions. Now I won’t be seeking out Starbucks and when I am there I will be, by necessity, ordering less. Sorry to say,
